Tonight I had Community and Corporate Scrutiny... the agenda was 170 pages but lots of useful and interesting discussions and I think we moved the world forward:
First up was the asset management plan, when we reviewed the council asset list (including Laurel Park below) and plans to manage them going forward. What was most useful was actually a complete list of all the assets the Council has.
Very enlightening, although I couldn't find the Earley Events field, so they have gone off to clarify that. As a councillor, I will find this list very useful, and they have said they will provide a searchable version!
The plan also indicated that WBC own part of Swallow's Meadow and officers have said that they will get me information on what part this is. A bit of history here: the transfer of the entire site to WBC from the university many years ago didn't get completed properly, hence my question.
Finally, I asked for more information about how the asset value is worked out - this should also be winging its way to me. It's pretty crucial for future decisions about value and business cases.
Other things on the agenda were the future of the M&S building in Wokingham; I have already done a video on this but I will more about tonight's discussion tomorrow. We discussed the Local Transport Plan update, Housing Regulation and the enforcement of renters' rights legislation - all meaty topics worthy of their own stories.
